When your Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting, here are some methods I've tried and found effective.
Have you ever had days when you were trying to watch a video at home and it kept stopping, or when you were trying to send a message, it just kept loading?
I used to just let it go, saying, "Why is the internet acting like this today?" But as it kept happening, the stress built up. So I decided to identify the root cause and fix it myself. It was simpler than I thought, but I only had to change a few simple habits, and since then, the disconnections have virtually disappeared.
1. Router location is really important.
At first, I hid the router in a corner behind the TV because I didn't want to see it. But I later discovered that this significantly weakened the signal. Because the signal from the router weakens as it passes through walls and furniture, it's best to place it in the center of the house. I moved it to a spot slightly off the floor, on top of a bookshelf in the living room, and from that moment on, the speed became noticeably more stable.
2. Let the router, which has been on for a long time, rest for a while.
Once installed, routers are often left on for months. I used to do that myself. However, I've heard that leaving them on for this long can corrupt the internal memory and slow down the speed. So now, once a week, before going to bed, I turn them off and wait a minute before turning them back on. This simple action has almost completely eliminated any sudden slowdowns.
3. When there are too many Wi-Fi networks around the house
If you live in an apartment or villa, you'll likely have a ton of Wi-Fi signals around your home. Since they all share the same path, they interfere with each other, slowing down speeds. Simply going into your router settings and changing the channel from auto to a different number will significantly improve your connection. It may seem complicated at first, but it only takes a few clicks.
4. It may be a problem with the device itself.
If the Wi-Fi connection keeps dropping only on the same phone or laptop, it might not be a router issue. In this case, deleting the Wi-Fi list on the device and reconnecting, or simply rebooting the device, can often resolve the issue. I did this when my phone kept dropping, and it immediately returned to normal.
5. Small habits make a big difference
Every time my Wi-Fi kept dropping, I considered calling my internet service provider, but in reality, most issues can be resolved at home. I simply moved the router, periodically turned it off and on, and changed the channel once. Now, I'm using it with almost no issues.
6. In summary
Wi-Fi disconnections may seem like a minor issue, but experiencing them several times a day can be quite stressful. Next time your connection becomes unstable, try the methods we discussed today one by one. Don't feel frustrated; the solution is easier than you might think.
